13 weeks

Not the most flattering shot, but here's the beginning of my baby bump. The second trimester officially starts tomorrow!

The kids and I found this idea in a magazine and thought it would be fun. We froze heart-shaped ice cubes with food coloring in them and then froze those with plain water in a bundt pan. It didn't last long with these relatively warm winter days, but it was fun!

So yeah, it's been a rough start to the year for me, and as I talk to my friends I realize it's been a rough year already for several of us. I am so thankful for friendship and the encouragement and love it brings. Yesterday, I got a card from a mom I know through church and girl scouts. I don't know her very well, so I was so touched by this card she gave me with a quote she'd written about hope. "Hope encourages the heart to move forward through the trials of today; it shines a light of assurance into the darkest places of uncertainty; it places secure stepping stones upon every river that needs to be crossed." -Roy Lessin
"I will put my hope in God! I will praise Him again- my Savior and my God!" Psalm 42:11

But, lots of sweet with the sour. Benjamin came home and told me Olivia (his little on/off crush/friend) was the door holder at school and when he passed her he said, "Thank you Princess Olivia" and gave a little bow! Then Natalie came in while I watching the news yesterday and Natalie Morales has just switched over to another anchor. So right when my Natalie came in the anchor said, Good morning, Natalie!" and my Natalie said, "Well, good morning to you too!". She looked at me a little shocked and we both started laughing. I told her about Natalie Morales, so she wouldn't think people in the TV could see her. That would be a creepy feeling!
